HealthCarePoint BlueCloud Enhances Collaborations Between Institutional Review Boards and Investigators to Help Site Sustainability

Independent institutional review boards to connect with investigator sites, share and exchange verifiable healthcare professionals’ information and minimize redundancies.

HealthCarePoint (HCP) today announced its collaboration with independent institutional review boards (IRBs). The announcement follows a meeting held at the 2015 Drug Information Association conference in Washington DC, where ethical review committees agreed to identify collaborative opportunities to minimize – and ultimately eliminate – redundancies that investigator sites and healthcare professionals experience when the same professional, experience and training (PET) credentials are required by multiple IRBs, sponsors, clinical research organizations and other industry stakeholders.

Over the past few years, HCP, and other industry stakeholders like Quorum, IntegReview, Chesapeake, Salus, MaGil, Sterling and dozens of other organizations have been exploring ways to use BlueCloud collaborative networking technologies to minimize redundancies created by proprietary siloes that make it more difficult for investigator sites to do business with and maintain long-term sustainability with IRBs, sponsors, clinical research organizations, universities, governments and others in the industry.

As collaborative momentum builds across the world, HCP continues to work closely with global industry leaders – including independent and institutional IRBs, universities, governments, private and not-for-profit standards organizations – that believe industry sustainability begins with creating common, seamless collaborative networks. This will maximize subject human protection and get products to market faster by eliminating waste generated by redundant siloed processes required from healthcare professionals and investigator sites.

“We are pleased to participate in this effort to reduce the workload of study staff during study start-up. The Quorum Review team is committed to reducing the administrative burden on sites so they can focus on what’s important – conducting great research and taking care of their research participants.” – Cami Gearhart, CEO, Quorum Review IRB

Using their own BlueClouds, organizations are able share verifiable site information, including PET credentials and certifications, electronically in real time. BlueClouds are now proven to help expedite study start-up and closeout visits, improve regulatory compliance, enhance competency and reduce time, resource use and financial burdens for healthcare and clinical research organizations.

“Much has changed in medical research over the last four decades. The time, cost and risk of clinical trials are an impediment to developing innovative therapies, yet they represent critical and challenging areas for innovation. Established methods are unsustainable and insufficient to meet the needs. The challenges demand greater collaboration and efficient solutions. The BlueCloud network reduces the burdens involved in sharing information, and makes a significant contribution toward engaging and collaborating with all stakeholders.” – Ellen Kelso, Executive Director, Chesapeake IRB

“In an effort to provide unsurpassed customer service, it is our goal to eliminate duplication for the sites. Ultimately, IntegReview believes that working with BlueCloud to collaborate between investigator sites and the IRBs will result in efficiencies realized by all players. We look forward to participating in this initiative.” – Lynn Meyer, President, IntegReview IRB

“Providing a common, neutral network to share professional, experience, training and licensing information is another step toward efficiency in the documentation behind clinical research.” – Gil Price, MD, President, MaGil IRB

“Our real-time collaborative approach eliminates expensive duplication efforts for healthcare professionals and allows stakeholders to share verifiable information from site personnel. This new model is proven to save healthcare and clinical research industry stakeholders millions as regulatory agencies require increasing proof of competency and documentation of inter-professional reliability from healthcare professionals around the world.” – Al O. Pacino, President, HealthCarePoint
